What
WePinion is a clickable dragable white board, without any displayed usernames or social networking -- let the ideas live independently of the human.
WePinion is driven by entities mapped on a blank canvas and grouped by their background color, users can discuss any entity and they are free to create their own maps for private or public use. Right now the entities mapped on the canvas are just blocks filled with text entered by you, soon you will have the ability to map pictures, video, sound clips, web links, and even create maps of maps or create your own format for the map entity (like a contact list).
WePinion is meant to be a place to find, share, and archive with anonymity -- no username will ever be displayed to other users.
So, if you're using FireFox, please take a gander at the last 2 years of my freetime and take part in the experiment!

Why
I wanted to make a construct for online communication that removed ego and let an idea live or die by its own merits.
I wanted to make a construct for being entertained online without the need to surf from site to site or even know what I was looking for... I wanted to just click and drag around and view, read, watch, and listen to things that I didn't think to look at.
I wanted a tool to store information the way I wanted to store it and view it by searching or all at once
I wanted to remove the issue that happens with discussion boards where the chronology effect removes old conversations from being viewed by anyone.
I wanted a website that was just vague enough and open enough and integrated enough that it would live and grow on it's own
I hope that's the future of WePinion.com
What's Next
What's next...there is a long list:
-Move from a 'cheated' AJAX to true AJAX processing for map display
-Create functionality for new map entities beyond just text (video, songs & sounds, pictures, maps of maps, websites, stock info, personal contacts)
-Create integration with other personal data stores -- Like email and social networking sites -- mainly for content collection
-Improve invitation and join process
-Create a client side map parser for displaying search results in a mapped format, chunked by how well they matched the search criteria
-Create maps with entities that are static but information that changes (like stocks, and Mutual funds)
-Create the ability to invite a thought's creator to a private group (you'd know they were a member, but not who they were)
-RSS consumer and provider capability for map content and dicsussions

Hello. My name is Vaughn Micciche. I have been interested in the web for a few years but am far from the cutting edge of web programming. If you've taken a look around and you want to be a part of creating something fairly unique and cool...please contact me. I've spent hundreds of hours over the past 2 years creating this site from scratch at night after work when I wasn't tending to family or riding my bicycle. I think I have built enough to accurately convey the idea -- now it's just the luck of finding someone who has the skills to take it to the next level!
